Abstract
591,664. Conduits ; two-part couplings. PIERCE FOUNDATION, J. B. May 17, 1945, No. 12429. Convention date, Aug. 2, 1944. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] A conduit receptacle is formed by a top 29, Fig. 2, having recesses 31, and a base 22, having an inlet 23 through which leads from the mains 43 may be led to be connected to the heads of the terminals 41 in the recesses 31. The ends of the screws 41 make contact with conductors 36, Fig. 4, which are held between the top and the base and which make electrical connection with a conduit length fitting in a female socket formed by cut-away portions 24, 32 and also with a conduit length engaged by a male projection formed by portions 25, 33. The base and top may be joined by screws 40, the whole being held in position against a wall by screws 21, and the recesses 31 may be closed by a cover 44 screwed to the top 29 by screws 45. If the conduit receptacle forms the end of a line, the free end may be covered by a cap having two projections to plug into the hollow ends of the conductors, if the male end of the receptacle is exposed, or by a plug having two notches for the projecting conductors if the female end be exposed.
