Abstract

578,453. Two-part couplings. STANTON, H. B. April 1, 1944, No. 6115. [Class 38 (i)] A plug coupling has an insulating body comprising terminal recesses 16 communicating with a circular recess containing a boss or peg 19 around which a side-entering cable is adapted to be wound in one or more turns before its leads reach the terminals. The boss may be the upper end 25 of an earth pin 26 or may be integral with the insulating body or its cover or formed by co-operating parts of body and cover. The boss or the wall of the recess may comprise a step 28, 30 or the free end of the boss may be of smaller diameter than its base. Examples are shown in the figures. Fig. 3 shows an earth pin 20 moulded into the plug body, the connection screw 22 being accessible through an opening 23 in the front of the boss.
