569,380. Sanitary napkins. JOHNSON & JOHNSON (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd. April 22, 1943, No. 6509. Convention date, April 22, 1942. [Class 81 (ii)] A sanitary napkin comprises an absorbent pad 1, a covering 5, 7 on the face of the pad corresponding to the side of the napkin contacting the body and a deodorant 9 held and retained in place between the plies of the covering. Sheets of repellent tissue 3 are provided on the back of the pad 1. The deodorant powder is distributed throughout a definite area between the plies 5, 7 which are crimped or embossed along the margins of the area and also throughout the area to retain the deodorant. The covering forms the doubleply retaining wrapper for the pad 1. The sides and back are cushioned with strips of cotton 10 and the entire napkin encased in a gauze wrapper provided with securing tabs.
