Abstract
551,963. Spectacles. HIERONIMUS, F. Dec. 4, 1941, No. 15624. [Class 97 (i)] The side arms of spectacles each have a pivot pin passed through them and through a member united to the lens frame flush against its rear face. As shown, the member 3 is a metal strip bent to form limbs 4 having holes 5 for the pivot pin 3; it is secured to the lens frame 1 by rivets 7. The side arm 2 may have a width equal to that of the member 3, and its end may be radiused at 2a and bevelled at 2b, the outer edge of the member 3 having a correspondingly bevelled portion 4a. The members 3 may be secured to lugs projecting from the ends of the lens frame, or the lugs may be omitted, the members being secured directly to the lens rims ; the thickness of each lens rim may be progressively increased so that it is sufficiently thick at the position of the member 3 to receive the member.
