Abstract
548,176. Valve gear; lubricating. DEHN, F. B. (Minneapolis-Moline Power Implement Co.). Feb. 3, 1941, No. 1407. [Classes 7 (ii), 7 (iv) and 7 (vi)] The valves 17, ignition distributer 49, and oil pump 54 are driven from a worm 40 cut on the centre bearing of the crankshaft 10 and gearing with a crown wheel 42 on a shaft 43. This shaft carries cams 45 actuating the valves through levers 18, and is notched at its ends 46 and 61 for driving engagement with the shafts 47 and 59 of the distributer and pump respectively. The shaft 43 may extend between a . pair of cylinders of a multicylinder engine. The oil pump comprises gears 55, 56 taking oil from the sump through a strainer 64 and distributing it to the crankshaft bearings and through a passage 79 in the shaft 43. The distributer is releasably held by a screw 51.
