Abstract

183,567. Mead, F. W. April 25, 1921. Force-feed lubricating.-The cam shaft F of an internal-combustion engine is lubricated by a flywheel on the crank shaft acting as a rotary pump, which supplies oil to a reservoir D enclosing bearings E, from which it is passed by a pipe G to a reservoir H enclosing bearings J. The oil overflows from the reservoir J to a compartment L containing the bevel gearing M, N and thence via passages O to the crank case and pump. The pipe G may be provided with a number of outlets K each of which has its flow restricted by means of a split pin &c. for oiling the cams.
