Abstract
502,612. Thermal switches; time switches. RAMSEY, A. R. J. (Automatic Control Corporation) Sept. 21, 1937, No. 25624. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] In an automatic stoker control arrangement incorporating thermal and time switches, the thermal switch comprises a bi-metallic strip 45, Fig. 6, heated by a coil 55 and adjustably held at one end 49. The other end is attached through a pivoted carrier 25 and a further bi-metallic strip 28 compensating for ambient temperature changes to a member 30 carrying contact 31 which co-operates with a fixed contact 42. A magnetic member 33 co-operating with a permanent magnet 34 gives a snap action. The time switch comprises a camoperated switch 75 having contacts 80, 83 on leaf springs, the distance apart of which is controlled by a serrated wheel 91 provided with a detent 92 and operating on screwed stud 90 engaging one of the springs. A V-shaped member 84 on spring 81 engages a cam 68 driven from an electric clock and making one revolution per hour. The cam is composed of two cam discs 69. 70 having depressions which may be relatively adjusted to give one or two operations of the switch 80. 83 per hour.
