Abstract

475,984. Sand-blast. TATE, F. R. (General Engineering Co., Inc.) Oct. 2, 1936, No. 26820. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXIX] A sand-blast nozzle has a rifled bore, whereby the issuing blast is given a whirling motion. The nozzle comprises a cylindrical casing 10 having therein one or more helical grooves 11 with which engage projections 21 on washers 20, of steel, rubber, alloy, &c. each formed with a non- circular perforation 22, so that when the casing is filled with the washers, the perforations form a rifled bore ; the washers are held in position by a nut 12 at the outlet end of the casing and a nut 14 for connection with the abrasive &c. supply hose. The washers are mounted, for insertion in the casing, on a rod provided with handles at its ends. The positions of the washers may be changed, or the casing reversed, end for end, when the washers are worn.
