Abstract
446,734. Discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Feb. 7, 1936, No. 3808. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] In a cathode glow lamp, particularly for use as an oscillator in a musical instrument, the cathode 2 is in the form of a cylinder with a V-indentation and surrounds the anode 5; the cathode is coated over the whole of its interior with barium or strontium carbonates, and with finely divided aluminium on its exterior surface. The anode is hollow and containswhen manufactured-magnesium to act as a getter ; the anode is of nickel-plated iron. The filling consists of neon with 0À4 per cent argon at a pressure of about 30 m.m. The aluminium is applied with a nitrocellulose binder which is broken down by induction heating during de-gassing; the carbonates are also reduced.
