Abstract

In a process of sintering fine ores on grates, the bedding layer for the grate consists of rolls, manufactured from part of the fine ores to be sintered. The rollers may be produced by moistening the fine ores and agglomerating in a rotary drum as described in Specification 343,599, [Group V]. The rolls are manufactured from ores of high concentration or specific weight or both, such as dressed ores; or, the ores may be classified, those of low permeability to air being separated for use in the manufacture of the rolls; also the rolls may be classified, the smaller ones being mixed with the non-shaped ore to be sintered.
