437,690. Packeting-machines. MASON, J., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd., 2, Evelyn Street, Deptford, London. Sept. 7, 1934, No. 25769. [Class 94 (i)] [See also Group XVIII] In a packing-machine for tea &c. provided with a plurality of packet-filling units grouped above a filling point, some of the filling units are disposed in a plane which lies across the path of the packetcarrying conveyer, the remainder of the units being arranged on one or both sides of the conveyer. Material from a bin 8 passes through hoppers 4, 5, 6 to filling units each consisting of two sets of weighing apparatus 15, 16 or 17, 18 or 19, 20, delivering the material to the packets 27 through tubes 21, 22 or 23, 24 or 25, 26. Mouthpiece elements 28 controlled in known manner by a shutter 29 are provided at the lower ends of the delivery tubes. The packets are carried in pockets 30 on a conveyer 31, each pocket containing two packets side by side, six packets being filled simultaneously after each movement of the conveyer. The filling units are grouped about the filling point so that the delivery tubes are sufficiently upright to ensure a free flow of the material. In the arrangement shown, the filling units are arranged about three sides of an imaginary rectangle, shown by chain lines in Fig. 3. A fourth filling unit may be arranged at the fourth side, or the filling units may be disposed on the sides of an imaginary hexagon or octagon. The weighing units are individually accessible through inspection doors.
