Abstract

[Class 108 (iii)] [See also Groups XXXV and XXVI] A high-speed machine, for example, a motor - driven fan 1 for a vacuum cleaner or hot air douche is mounted within a housing 2 by means of a rubber or other elastic ring 5 expanded in the radial direction by compression so that its inner and outer peripheries grip the machine and the housing firmly. As shown in connection with a vacuum cleaner, the ring 5 is held between projections 3, 4 on the housing and bears against a flange 7 on the fan unit. The ring is compressed by means of a pressure ring 9 secured on the fan unit. by screws 10. One or both of the projections 3, 4 may be dispensed with or a tongue pressed inwardly from the housing may serve to locate the elastic ring. The pressure ring 9 may be threaded externally to screw into the housing 2.
