Abstract

334,891. Macnab, J., and Mhitarian, M. June 10, 1929. Reflectors.-A curved reflector a for illumination purposes is formed with grooves and facets f arranged concentrically with respect to an electric lamp bulb c, the facets beyond each groove being set back so as to make the reflector relatively flat, and the angles of the facets varying progressively towards the periphery so as to produce a substantially parallel beam. The reflector may be made of metal, glass or wood, and the grooves and facets may be formed by stamping, pressing, casting, moulding, or cutting or turning by machinery. The facets may be made highly reflecting or diffusing by silver, nickel, or chromium plating, by coating a bright metal surface with a transparent varnish or lacquer, or by painting or enamelling. The facets may be white, of a uniform colour, or of different colours singly or in groups. The front of the bulb c may be frosted, painted, or coated with an obscuring or reflecting medium, or it may be provided with a reflecting cap d supported as by means of one or more rods e.
