Abstract
283,795. Shaw, O., and Shaw & Co., Ltd., F. June 24, 1927. Vulcanizing tyres.-A tyre-vulcanizing mould comprises divided inner and outer shells a, d, which are detachably fitted together in spaced relationship so as to form a steam chamber e by means of a bayonet-type fastening consisting of inner and outer co-operating interrupted flanges a<1>, a<2>, d<1>, d<2>, automatic steam-tight joints being formed by rubber rings f which are held in groovesin the outer shells and are provided with tapered extensions which act under pressure of the steam to seal the joints. The two halves of the outer shell are locked together in similar bayonetfashion by a ring g, the necessary rotation of which can be effected by a hand-wheel i engaging a screwed connecting-rod h. As shown, two moulds are mounted together on a common bed plate s and the outer half-shells remote from the support are carried on vertical hinges t.
