Abstract
285,314. Marston, H. A. July 22,1927. Pulverulent-fuel burners.-A pulverulent-fuel burner comprises a fuel supply pipe b surrounded by a cylinder a<1> formed with air or steam inlet ports a<3> and with discharge ports a<4>, a<5> separated by webs a<6> and having axoidal surfaces a<7>. The ports a<4> are concentric with and the ports a<5> tangential to the fuel pipe b. The pipe b is provided with spiral projections b<1> of unequal pitch and length formed with longitudinal ports b<2> through which the air or steam from the cylinder a<1> issues into the pipe b. The ports b<2> are controlled by a rotatable sleeve c which is formed with ports c<1> registering with the ports b<2> and is provided with operating handles c<2>. The sleeve c is secured in position when adjusted by a locking screw c<3>. Induced air may be admitted to the cylinder a' through ports d controlled by a rotatable aperture cover d<2>. Air or steam is also supplied to the burner through a pipe e which is axially adjustable in eccentric bushes e<1> e<2> in a housing e<3> on the fuel supply pipe b. The bushes e<1>, e<2> may be rotated either simultaneously or independently after releasing set-screws e<5>. The discharge end of the pipe e may be of hollow conical or fishtail formation.
