242,230. Schmidt, J. J., and Brice, A. L. June 30, 1925. Wear, preventing and adjusting for.-A centrifugal pump has an impeller 12 with flat annular faces 16, 17 on each side in co-operation with removable sealing and wearing rings 18, 19 in members 14, 15 attached to the casing 2. The rings are held in the members 14, 15 by screw threads oppositely arranged to prevent the rings from binding on the impeller; set screws 20 may be provided to assist in holding the rings, and the rings may have a number of notches to facilitate adjustment by a wrench. Each ring may have a lip extending under the impeller wall and a spiral groove 27 is made in the face of the impeller to assist in the prevention of leakage. In a modification the wearing rings have insets in the faces opposite the rotor, or the rings may have tongues projecting into grooves on the rotor.
