Abstract

202,908. Feederie, F. Dec. 30, 1922. Breech actions, sliding breech-block; magazines.-The front part of the breech-bolt 1 of a small-bore rifle is formed on the underside with longitudinal slots 2, 3, Figs. 3 and 10, adapted to receive the lips 5 of the magazine 6. At the rear, the slots taper off into the periphery of the bolt so that the magazine is depressed when the bolt is fully closed and there is no obstruction to the rotation of the bolt. The front part of the breech-bolt is preferably reduced in diameter, as shown. To allow of the magazine being depressed, the spring locking-catch 17 engages an inclined surfaces 16 on the magazine. Rotation of the rear part 14 of the breech-bolt, in which the cocking piece is mounted, is prevented by a longitudinal rib engaging a slot at the side of the action-body 7 and completely filling this slot when the breech is locked.
