Abstract

1512214 Impelling tools FRIEDRICH DUSS MASCHINENFABRIK 24 July 1975 [1 Aug 1974] 30953/75 Heading B4C In an electrically driven percussive hammer a piston 9 is reciprocated by a piston 10 and an intermediate air cushion 11 and its forward movement is cushioned by a metal cushioning ring 19 having an axial slit through it at one point on its circumference. The ring 19 engages the outer surface 32 of the piston 9 and is radially deflected thereby causing progressive deceleration. The tool is rotated by gears 5<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>1</SP> shaft 6 gears 17 and shaft 16 from the electric motor drive which also provides drive to piston 10 through eccentric 13. In a modification Fig. 2 the top edge of ring 19 is angled and fits into a corresponding angle 27 of piston guide sleeve 8.
