Abstract
1444555 Door catches WEST ALLOY DIECASTING Ltd and J H T WILLIAMS 13 Feb 1974 [28 Dec 1972] 59911/72 Heading E2A A catch for a door or the like inserted into an aperture 4 of the door comprises a handle lever 8 pivoted by pins 7a engaged with recesses in housing cheeks 1 and integral with a tubular part 7 having a screw threaded engagement with latching head 10. A shoulder 10a abuts against a keeper 11 on wall 12. To release the latch, lever 8 is pivoted against the bias of a compression coil or blade spring 13 located between a cover plate 2 and a lug provided on part 7 until shoulder 10a clears a nosella on keeper 11. The tubular part 7 may be internally threaded as shown to receive latch 10 or may be externally threaded and the latch internally threaded. To facilitate opening of the door from the inside latch 10 may be provided with a finger piece.
