Abstract

1334101 Rolling mills MANNESMANN AG 26 Aug 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 40002/71 Heading B3M An ingot piercing mill, of the kind having a stand 1 containing rolls driven by spindles 2 and 3, and a mandrel rod (not shown) supported by a thrust bearing at the exit (right hand) end of the stand, includes a chain driven pusher head 17 for pushing an ingot into the stand. The head 17 acts through a rod 19 and is carried universally on a cross-bar 16 which is connected to the upper runs of chains 14 and 15. The chains pass around sprockets 22, 23, 10 and 11, with a reversible motor 13 driving the sprockets 10 and 11. The upper runs of the chains lie in a horizontal plane passing through the centre of the stand 1.
