Abstract
1303800 Cathode-ray tubes SONY CORP 17 April 1970 [17 April 1969) 41334/72 Divided out of 1302582 Heading H1D In an electron discharge device the electron flow from a cathode to a plurality of fluorescent screen portions is controlled by electrodes arranged on either side of the screen portions. The number indicator tube shown in Fig. 4 comprises seven luminescent anodes A1-A7, the electron flow to which is controlled by a number of fork-shaped electrodes GA, one for each display area, and rod electrodes GB1- GB5 which are arranged between the tines GA1-GA6 of each fork. A particular area glows only if the anode A and the overlying electrodes GA and GB are all positive, and in operation the group of electrodes GA is pulsed positive, the electrodes GB are pulsed in turn to provide in effect a horizontal scan, and the electrodes A are selectively energized according to the display required (e.g. the number 2 in Fig. 12). Another arrangement comprises parallel electrodes connected together and insulatingly supported from a conductive plate on which fluorescent material is disposed in the gaps between electrodes (Fig. 6, not shown).
