Abstract
1379017 Thyristor assembly SIEMENS AG 26 June 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 30342/73 Heading H1K A thyristor comprises a semi-conductor wafer 6 with a trigger electrode on one face, located in a housing (Fig. 1) constituted by an insulating, e.g. alumina ring 1 and end plates 2, 3 attached to its ends, e.g. via metal rings 4, 5 of nickeliron-cobalt alloy, the trigger electrode being contacted by a conductor 9, one end of which fits into a socket 15 in the housing wall and the other end of which is bent to form a spring 10 located in a recess 8 in auxiliary metal member 7. Conductor 9 abuts at one end the trigger electrode and at the other an abutment, e.g. insulating plate 11 adjacent the outer face of member 7. The conductor, an insulated part of which lies in a slot 13 communicating with the recess, is of beryllium bronze and is held in place by a resilient insulating sleeve 12 press-fitted into the recess. In manufacture the conductor is first assembled in member 7 via recess 8 and the resulting sub-assembly placed with the spring end engaging the trigger electrode of the wafer which rests on or is soldered to member 3 forming part of sub-assembly 1, 3, 5, 15. The plate 3 is fitted and soldered or welded to insulating ring 1 via ring 4.
