Abstract
1377211 Oxidation catalyst DAVY POWERGAS Ltd and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 March 1972 [24 March 1971 17 Dec 1971] 7681/71 and 58745/71 Heading B1E [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] An oxidation catalyst is produced by forming a calcined mixture comprising the oxides of antimony and vanadium and, after final calcination, subjecting the mixture to a treatment with an aqueous liquor to remove at least part, and preferably subsantially all, of the waterextractable vanadium component present. The aqueous liquor may be water, an alkaline solution, e.g. ammonium hydroxide or carbonate, or an acid, e.g. nitric acid. The final calcination may be at 700-900‹C and the untreated mixture suitably has a vanadium to antimony atomic ratio of 0.05:1 to 1.5:1.
