Abstract

1353439 Locks AISIN SEIKI KK 27 Oct 1972 [27 Oct 1971] 49611/72 Heading E2A A door latch for a motor vehicle comprises a bolt retainable in operative position by a pivoted detent 26 and releasable by a lever member 12, a keyless locking member, a lever 30, pivoted on a member 20 pivoted to the releasing member 12 which lever moves the releasing member to an inoperative position when the bolt moves to latching position with the member 12 retained in latch releasing position. The bolt is connected to a disc 47 by a shaft 49 pivotally mounted on a base plate 10. The disc has teeth 45, 46 for safety or fully latching by a tooth 44 of the detent. When the member 12 is actuated either by an outside door handle or an inside door handle connected to the member by a lever 18 the member 20 is moved downwardly so that a surface 25 thereon engages a projection 27 on the detent to release the detent from the disc and releases the bolt from a keeper urged by a spring 50. When the door is closed with the releasing member actuated from outside the disc 47 rotates anti clockwise with the bolt and a flange 52 of the disc contacts one projecting arm of the lever 30 which is pivoted in a slot in the member 20 with the other arm abutting a surface of the member 20 whereby the member 20 is moved clockwise to its locking position. When the member 12 is released the member 20 remains in locking position with the surface 25 out of contact with the projection 27 of the bolt when the member 12 is actuated thereby effecting keyless locking, when the releasing member 12 is actuated with the locking member inoperative to release the bolt the flange 52 strikes the other side of the projecting arm of the lever 30 -and the lever pivots so that the member 20 remains operative. The member 20 is also movable to locking position by actuating a locking lever 23 by an inside push button or an outside lock, the lever 23 having a pin 24 engaging in a slot 22 in the member 20 for connection therewith. If the door is closed with the locking member operative the pivotal movement of the detent riding over the teeth of the disc causes a member 29 on the detent to contact a surface 28 of the member 20 to move the member from the locking position to the operative latch releasing position thus cancelling the locking action.
