Abstract

1343376 Supercharged 2-stroke IC engine A S GIBRIN 29 Aug 1972 [25 May 1972] 24580/72 Heading F1B Two stroke IC engine has air supplied to the cylinder(s) by a blower or from a compressed air bottle and petrol is injected by a fuel pump directly into the cylinder(s), the engine having an exhaust valve for each cylinder which opens at B.D.C. and remains open for about 150 degrees of crank-shaft rotation, then exhaust valve then closing and an inlet valve simultaneously opening to admit air and at the same time the injection of fuel commencing, the inlet valve closing not later than 8 degrees before T.D.C. and the fuel/air mixture being ignited by a spark when the inlet valve closes.
