Abstract
1,218,090. Hammer mills. SIMON-BARRON Ltd. 12 Aug., 1969 [6 Sept., 1968], No. 42498/68. Heading B2A. A hammer mill has a vibratable screen 10 operable on actuation of the hammer rotor. As described, a shaft 8 has cranked portions 9 to support the screen and counterweighted pulleys 22, 23 to balance the forces produced on rotation of the shaft. Rotor arms 26 are arranged along the shaft, with spigots 27 bearing hammers 28. The spigots 27 are arranged on the circumference of a cylinder coaxial with the screen 10, and thus the outer faces of the rotor arms 26 remain equidistant from the screen 10. Ground material leaves via an outlet 30. Impellers 29 throw material supplied via inlets 5 and 6 towards the screen for comminution by the hammers. The mill is driven, e.g. by pulley 22, or separate motors may be used with the pulleys 22, 23 to drive the mill at different speeds for different products.
