Abstract
1298014 Bi-stable remanent relays KOKUSAI DENSHIN DENWA KK 9 Feb 1970 [10 Feb 1969] 6074/70 Heading H1N A remanent relay has one three-pole and one two-pole member forming two co-operating magnetic circuit components, one of which is its armature which is retained in each of its extreme positions by the remanent magnetism and no mechanical bias is provided. Fig. 1 shows a basic magnetic structure in which the yoke and core member G or part Ga thereof is the remanent member which may be magnetized in either direction by alternatively pulsed coils W 1 , W 1 a. A coil W 2 can be pulsed to magnetize the armature A in one direction only. Alternatively, the armature may be the remanent member surrounded by the two alternative coils with a single coil on the yoke and core member (Fig. 4, not shown). Fig. 5 shows the armature plate 8 connected by a wire L to one terminal C and in one of its stable positions engaging a contact Q, within a sealed tube U. Alternatively, the armature may comprise two plates separated by an insulating plate and co-operating with separate fixed contacts in the sealed tube (Fig. 6, not shown). Fig. 9 shows a further sealed contact unit with a flexible, non-resilient remanent armature member A having its armature limbs A 1 , A 2 attracted to respective yoke and core ends Q 1 , Q 2 in one state and to ends Q 2 , Q 3 in the other state. The core end Q 2 is provided with an insulating spacer R to prevent electrical contact with limb A 1 . The limbs of the member G may also be flexible so that these also act as armatures.
