Abstract

1,273,105. Missile fins. SARMAC S.A. 26 Nov., 1970 [5 Dec., 1969], No. 56277/70. Heading F3A. A self-propelled missile for launching from a tube comprises a plurality of erectile fins 7 pivotable about axes 6 under the action of springs 11 when the missile leaves the launching tube, each of the fins consisting of two blades 7 and a connecting bridge 17. The fins are made of sheet metal or plastics material. The blades of each fin may diverge rearwardly and can also have lateral flaps at the ends. The pivot axes 6 comprise pins supported by forks 5 which are welded directly to a nozzle 3 or belong to a collar 4. Alternatively, the forks are provided with facing nipples which engage in the ends of hollow pins integral with the fins or in recesses formed in an integral boss. In a further modification, the integral boss is provided with nipples which engage in recesses provided in the prongs.
