Abstract
1,272,888. Transformers. J. M. B. CASTELLA. 14 May, 1970 [14 July, 1969 (3)], No. 23404/70. Heading H1T. Electromagnetic apparatus comprises at least one coil 3 embedded in a magnetic core formed as a solid block composed of particulate particles of magnetic material dispersed in an electrically insulating bonding medium. The coils may be of circular, oval, elliptical or rectangular form. Fixing holes (8) (Fig. 2, not shown) may be moulded into the block. Terminals (10) (Fig. 2, not shown) internally connected to the ends of the winding may also be moulded into the block. In another form of the apparatus the core may contain two windings, the block (1) (Fig. 3, not shown) being moulded so that it will accommodate four terminal blocks (10) (Fig. 2, not shown). The bonding material may consist of synthetic resin or plastics material. The magnetic material may consist of a soft iron, a silicon steel or a high permeability nickel iron alloy and the particles may be magnetically oriented.
