Abstract

1,127,593. Locking screws. UNITED KING- DOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 10 May, 1966 [13 May, 1965], No. 20198/65. Heading F2H. [Also in Division G6] An externally threaded stud, e.g. the end fitting on a nuclear reactor fuel element, is locked in a blind hole by at least one tab 9, extending obliquely from the end face of the stud, which is bent flat against the end of the hole and forced into engagement with the internal thread of the hole. In Fig. 1, four tabs are formed by machining a V-groove 5, dished end-face 7, and saw-cuts 8. The tab may engage an annular groove formed around the bottom of the hole.
