A guard for a circular saw 11 comprises a top cover 14, of inverted hull shape, pivotally mounted on a riving knife 13, and side plates 18, 19 pivotally mounted by a bolt 20 at the front of the top cover 14. The plates 18, 19 are guided for movement with respect to cover 14 by screws 25 in the cover 14 engaging arcuate slots 24 in the plates 18, 19. The cover 14 may be locked in various positions by a knob 16 and carries a roller 27 at the front to enhance feeding in of material to be cut.
