Abstract

1,151,701. Track alignment. FRANZ PLASSER. [trading as FRANZ PLASSER BAHNBAUMASCHINEN]. 16 June, 1966 [18 June, 1965], No. 26900/66. Heading B7N. Track levelling apparatus comprising a packing machine 4, track lifting apparatus 5 including a screen 6 which in use operates in conjunction with a short reference line defined by light transmitter 8 positioned over corrected track and a light receiver 9 mounted on a trolley 14, with remote control drive, which is positioned over uncorrected track, sighting means 12 at a position in advance of the trolley cooperating with a target 10 on the lifting apparatus to define a longer reference line and means controlled from the sighting position for adjusting the height of receiver 9 on the trolley to bring the leading end of the short reference line into agreement with the long line. When the trolley moves forward from the lifting machine towards the advance point of a new section an observer at the sighting position adjusts the height of the receivers 9 via apparatus 21 to maintain the zero mark on scales 9<SP>1</SP> in line with the sighting mark 10 on the lifting machine, if a false summit is encountered, i.e. a point higher than the track line defined by the long reference line, the height of the centre column 20<SP>1</SP> supporting the receivers 9 will be reduced to a position in which two contacts 22 and 22<SP>1</SP> are connected and an alarm circuit 17 will be energized. Depending on the distance between the corrected track and the false summit either the height of the short line or the long line will be adjusted. Superelevation of the track may be adjusted by the use of hand wheels 18, whereby the height of one or other receiver may be adjusted independently of the other.
