Abstract

1,147,458. Hexamethylenediamine purification. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 11 Aug., 1966 [8 Sept., 1965], No. 38337/65. Heading C2C. The purification of hexamethylenediamine comprises preparing a solution of the crude diamine in water such that the ratio of diamine to water is from 1 : 3 to 9 : 1 by weight, cooling the solution to a temperature within the range - 15‹ to +40‹ C. until solid diamine is formed in the liquid and separating the solid from the liquid. The ratio of solid diamine to liquid before separation is effected is usually within the range 1 : 4 to 1 : 1 by weight.
