Abstract

1,098,609. Lamps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Dec. 8, 1966 [Dec. 28, 1965], No. 54914/65. Addition to 1,098,608. Heading F4R. [Also in Division G1] In the vehicle headlamp dipping system of the parent Specification where a photo-cell receiving light from an oncoming vehicle controls the movement of a shutter across an aperture through which the headlamp beam is projected, the shutter is carried and moved by a cable extending across the face of the mask containing the aperture; the cable passing round a pulley carried on the spindle of the armature receiving the photo-cell current. The other shutter cutting off the light of the oncoming vehicle reaching the photo-cell is carried on the same cable. A non-driven cable engages both shutters. Wavelengths to which the photo-cell is particularly sensitive, namely non-infra-red, are removed from the projected headlamp beam by a partially reflecting mirror.
