Abstract
1, 084, 819. Exhaust silencers. G. E. L. WALKER. Oct. 6, 1964 [Nov.14, 1963], No. 40718/64. Heading F1B. An exhaust silencer comprises a core 6, within casing 1 forming an annular passage 12 through which the gases flow. The core is closed by end plates 8, 9, and may have a perforated wall 7. The interior of the core may be filled with heatresistant fibrous material. The inlet pipe 4 projects right through the core to chamber 3a, from which the gases flow through annular space 12 to space 2a and then through outlet pipe 5 extending through the core. Resonant chambers 18 may be formed at the ends of the core.
