Abstract

1,080,035. Disc brakes. KNORR-BREMSE G.m.b.H. April 22, 1966 [April 23, 1965], No. 17777/66. Heading F2E. A disc for a disc brake, particularly for a rail vehicle, comprises a ring 2 having radially inwardly directed lugs 5, a hub member 1 having radially outwardly directed lugs 4 which either overlap, as shown, or are bifurcated to extend on opposite sides of the lugs 5, and longitudinally slotted tubular collets 6 which are passed through aligned axial holes in the two sets of lugs with their slots 7 arranged to face either forwardly or rearwardly whereby limited relative radial movement, due to thermal expansion, can occur between the lugs 4 and 5, but substantially no relative rotational movement between the ring and hub can take place. Preferably, the collets are strengthened against the rotational torque of the disc by support members (8, Fig. 3, not shown) which are conveniently formed as bolts (9, Fig. 4, not shown) having flats on the radially outer and inner portions of their shanks to permit the relative radial movement between the lugs 4 and 5, nuts being fitted on the bolts to secure them.
