Abstract

A precipitation-hardenable Ni-containing alloy of the kind having a f.c.c. structure and a base consisting, in addition to Ni, of one or more of Fe, Co or Cr and also containing B and/or Zr is rendered weldable by the incorporation of a suitable amount (e.g. 0.007-0.07%) of Hf. The alloy may include one or more of W, Mo, Nb or Ta. The alloy may also be used as the welding filler and welding effected by the inert gas-shielded tungsten-arc process.
