Abstract
1,040,344. Walls. J. E. EVANS. March 9, 1965 [March 10, 1964], No. 9982/64. Heading E1B. A concrete wall consists of reinforced storey-high studs 10 and one or two wall skins of hessian reinforced blocks 30 having formations on each side their inner faces engaging with formations on the studs. As shown, an undercut lug 31 is formed extending inwardly at each end of each block, and engages with a projection 12 on the stud. Each stud has longitudinal edge rebates 11, and either stands in a slot formed in a raised rib of the strip footing 21, or has a lower transverse groove at its lower edge to locate it on said raised rib. The blocks 30 have interengaging rebated upper and lower edges 33 and 34. The undercut lug 31 may be reinforced by a channel-sectioned metal insert 35, which may be perforate, or may be simply an inwardly-extending metal hook or lug cast or grouted into the block. The projections 12 may also be reinforced (as shown), and the stud may be formed with two extra longitudinal grooves along each side face, Fig. 3 (not shown), or one extra groove when a single skin only is required, Fig. 4 (not shown), there being only two longitudinal rebates in this case.
