Abstract

A double leaf two way door on double acting hinges with rubber safety stops is converted to a fire stop door by thermal spring stops at the top and bottom of the door. The conversion is completed by bands of expanding material placed on the inside edges of the door and on the opposite edge of the door frame. The expanding material closes the gap between door leaf and frame to smoke and flames and the thermal spring stops automatically operate to resist the pressure of the fire.
