Abstract
The heat exchanger is built up from a number of rectangular metal frames (2) separated by sheets (1) of metal or plastic. Holes (31, 32) in opposite sides of the frames (2) allow air to flow diagonally across the space enclosed by each frame (2). The frames (2) are so arranged that the air in alternate frames flows in opposite and different diagonal directions. The heat exchanger is intended for use in heating buildings, with the holes in the frames aligned with ducts in such a way that the air flowing out of the building flows through frames which are separated by those frames through which fresh air flows into the buildings. The outgoing air thus heats the incoming air resulting in a saving in heat energy.
