Abstract
In the parent patent where a surface is first rubbed down with abrasive paper then coated with polyurethane varnish, nitro-cellulose priming coat, followed by crackling lacquer, matt cellulose varnish and finally the appropriate patina, the cellulose varnish is matt or glossy and either colourless or pigmented with a cellulose dyestuff. It is dried for 1 hr. at ca 20 degrees C and is opt. applied with the crackling lacquer and then dried. Gilt undercoats of cellulose based paint may be coated first with clear cellulose varnish and then with lacquer for crackling and this process may be effected on its own or following the original process. Process has a wider range of decorative possibilities than prior art.
