Description

The invention relates to a method for folding sheets according to claim 1 and a folding machine for folding sheets according to the preamble of claim 5.

Stand der TechnikState of the art

From a standing pocket folding machines are known. The construction of a Taschenfalzmaschine with a variety of Taschenfalzwerken goes out of the DE 10 2004 041 471 A1 out. A respective pocket folder consists of a folding pocket and three folding rollers, which are arranged in two pairs of folding rollers. Furthermore, Schwertfalzmaschinen are known. From the DE 29 40 360 A1 is a single sword folding machine for folding of printed and pre-folded sheet known. Combination folding machines combine pocket folders and knife folders. Here are folded in a first folding station in Taschenfalzwerken parallel breaks and in a subsequent folding station in Schwertfalzwerken cross breaks. The DE 10 2006 055 301 A1 shows Kombifalzmaschinen with a plurality of Taschenfalzwerken and nachranging arranged Schwertfalzwerken.

In order to increase the output of folding machines, ie their productivity, the speed of passage of the sheets is usually increased by the folding machine. By increasing the speed, however, a respective folded sheet undergoes deformations and damage, which leads to significant quality losses.

From the DE 103 36 757 A1 For example, methods for folding bow-shaped overlapping sheets are disclosed. By using the methods, the productivity of the folding machines is to be increased without increasing the speed of passage of the sheets through the machine. For this purpose, the folding gap widths of the feeding folding rollers are increased or reduced depending on the folding cycle in partial phases of a continuous folding operation. Such a procedure is disadvantageous because to adapt the folding gap width on the one hand, a complicated mechanical storage of the folding rollers as well as a complex control of the drives for adjusting the Folding gap width are necessary. Another disadvantage is that successive sheets meet in the folding units and are moved relative to each other at a relative speed. The bows can be damaged and it can lead to so-called markings. The relative movement of both sheets can cause increased folding tolerances, electrostatic charge and disturbances in the area of the pocket inlet.

Aufgabenstellungtask

The object of the present invention is therefore to describe a folding method and to provide a folding machine, which overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art and does not require any structural modifications of existing folding units.

This object is achieved by a method for folding according to claim 1 and a folding machine with the characterizing features of claim 5.

The invention relates to a method for overlapping folding of sheet-shaped elements, in particular of printed sheets of paper, cardboard and the like in a folding machine. For this purpose, the folding machine has at least one folding station with at least one folding unit. The arcuate elements are fed in advance in a transport direction with its front edge with a Überuppung the folding station. According to the invention, the overlap corresponds at most to the first fold length. In the folding unit, a fold break is produced transversely to the transport direction in a respective arcuate element and the arcuate elements are folded upwards with a first fold length, ie the leading edge of a respective arcuate element is deposited on its upper side. In this case, the fold is such that the distance between the stored front edge of a first arcuate element and the front edge of a subsequent not yet folded arcuate element is greater than or equal to zero. That is, the leading edges are spaced from each other even after the first fold or lie in the limit case to each other. The leading edge of a first arcuate element is thus located in the transport direction downstream of the leading edge of a subsequent not yet folded arcuate element. This is ensures that a first incoming arcuate element and a subsequent incoming second arcuate element does not meet.

The uncoupled folding according to the invention can be carried out in a pocket folding station or a parallel sword folding station. The Parallelschwertfalzstation has a first upper and acting from above folding blade. After the above-mentioned over-folded seaming, the folded product produced thereby can be further processed by further folding, be it in subsequent folding units of the same folding station and / or in subsequent folding stations.

When folding sheets in an unpaved manner according to the prior art, a distance of approximately 5 to 8 cm must be present between the sheets fed to a folding unit. This ensures that the folding in the first folder is already completed before a subsequent sheet enters the folder. By applying the method according to the invention can be dispensed with the distance of the sheet when entering the second folding station, the sheets are even driven with a Überuppung. Due to the overlapping of the sheets more sheets can be folded at the same speed and quality and the output of the folding machine is increased. An adaptation of the folding units is not necessary.

The invention also relates to a folding machine for folding sheets of paper, cardboard and the like with at least a first and a second folding station. Between the first and the second folding station, a transport device is arranged. The folding stations each have drive rollers driven by folding rollers; The transport device also has a drive. The drives are each connected to a common control unit and are controlled by this. The transport speed of the first folding station is greater than the transport speed of the transport device and the second folding station. Advantageously, thereby the products between the first and second folding station are transported overshadowing.

In an advantageous development of the folding machine according to the invention, the second folding station is followed by a third folding station. This can have pocket folders or Schwertfalzwerke.
In an advantageous development of the folding machine according to the invention, at least one folding station is preceded by a device for applying adhesive to the products. In a further advantageous embodiment, at least one folding station is arranged downstream of a device for trimming the products. By the device for applying adhesive and the device for trimming the products, it is possible in an advantageous manner to produce small books, so-called booklets, from the sheets.
In an advantageous development of the folding machine according to the invention, at least one folding station is arranged downstream of a device for pressing the products. By squeezing the products can be prevented bulging of the products in an advantageous manner.

With regard to further advantageous embodiments of the invention, reference is made to the dependent claims and the description of an embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings.

The method according to the invention for over-folding of sheets of paper, cardboard and the like in a folding machine can be implemented, for example, as follows:
  • In a first step, sheets are transported in a first transport direction to a first folding station. The shorter sides of each sheet are parallel to the first transport direction. In a second step, the transverse folding of the sheets takes place in the first folding station. This results in first folded products. In a third step, the first folded products are deflected by means of a transport device in a second transport direction and subsequently transported on. The second transport direction is perpendicular to the first transport direction. The longer sides of a respective first folded product are aligned parallel to the second transport direction. The folded products are transported by the transport device so on and a second folding station having Taschenfalzwerke fed that fold over the folded products. Ie. the upstream end of a first folded product is covered by a subsequent second folded product. In a fourth step, a double folding takes place in the second folding station. The folds are eccentric zig-zag or zig-zag winding or winding folds with fold breaks at equal intervals. Ie. all folding pockets have the same inlet length. To produce the first fold in this folding station, the first folded product enters an upper folding pocket. During this fourth step arise second folded products.
  • The second folded product can then be transported further by means of a second transport device and fed to a third folding station. There, the second folded product is folded in the middle transversely to the longer side of the second folded product, whereby a third folded product is formed. The fold can be generated in a pocket folder or a sword folder.

In Fig. 1b two signatures 7a, 7b are shown, which are transported from a first folding station 3 in the transport direction T to a second folding station 4. The signatures 7a and 7b are thereby transported überuppt. The second signature 7b covers the upstream end of the signature 7a. In the example of Fig. 1b Three folds are generated so that a respective signature 7a, 7b is divided into four equal parts of the sheet. The overlap c is one quarter of the length of the signatures 7a, 7b. Unlike in Fig. 1a shown spaced transport of the two signatures 7a and 7b has been for the überuppten transport according to Fig. 1b the second signature 7b is shifted in the transport direction T by the sum of the signature spacing b and the overlapping c. In order to fold the signatures 7a, 7b in the second folding station 4, the signatures 7a, 7b have to travel a smaller distance. Ie. at constant machine speed, ie transport speed, more signatures can be processed into finished folded products and the output of the folding machine 1 can be increased. Alternatively, the application of the folding machine 1 can be maintained and the transport speed of the signatures 7a, 7b can be reduced, especially if it is difficult to process material, which requires a lower transport speed to ensure a high quality of the products.

Fig. 2c stellt eine dritte Momentaufnahme dar.
In the Fig. 2a to 2c It is shown how the superimposed signatures 7a, 7b are folded in the pocket folders of the second folding station 4. In Fig. 2a a first snapshot is shown. The signatures 7a, 7b are fed from a first folding station 3 via a feed table 9 in the transport direction T of the second folding station 4. The signatures 7a, 7b have an overlapping c. The first signature 7a has already entered the first folding pocket 11 at the top. The pocket stop 12 of the folding pocket 11 was set to an inlet length (folding length) 14. The inlet length 14 here corresponds to one third of the length of the signatures 7a, 7b. In Fig. 2b a second snapshot is shown. The first signature 7a has already left the first folding folder 11 on the top, a first fold break has been produced by the folding rollers 15 and the first signature 7a is already in the second, The second signature 7b runs straight into the first, top, folding pocket 11. The setting of the inlet lengths 14 of the folding pockets 11 shown ensures that the signatures 7a and 7b do not meet in the second folding station 4 in such a way that relative speeds occur between the first signature 7a and the second signature 7b. In the inlet region of the second folding station 4 below the transport roller 16 touch first signature 7a and second signature 7b, however, are moved at the same speed. Since there are no relative speeds between the first signature 7a and the second signature 7b, markings are prevented. By the first fold, the leading edge 30a of the first signature 7a is deposited so that the distance to the leading edge 30b of the subsequent signature 7b is greater than zero. Fig. 2c represents a third snapshot. The first signature 7a is already finished folded and is transported past a third folding pocket and discharged from the second folding station 4. A curved switch 13 prevents the entry of the first signature 7a into the third folding pocket 11. In the second signature 7b, a first fold break is produced by the folding rollers 15. Again, first signature 7a and second signature 7b do not meet and there is no relative movement between the two signatures 7a, 7b.
The folding station 4 shown has three folding pockets 11. According to the invention, however, the folding station 4 could have any number of folding pockets 11.

In the Figures 3a, 3b and 3c For example, two possible variants for the construction of a folding machine 1 are shown. The folding machine according to Fig. 3a has a first folding station 3, which is designed as a pocket folder with a pocket, a second folding station 4, which is designed as Taschenfalzstation with at least three folding pockets and a third folding station 5, which is designed as a pocket folder with at least one folding pocket. The run-in lengths of the respective folding pockets are given in brackets and refer to the length of each incoming bow. In the first folding station 3, a transverse center fold is generated. The signature generated is fed via a Schrägrollentisch 10 of the second folding station 4. By matching the transport speed in the first folding station 3 and the Schrägrollentischs 10 is achieved that the signatures by the Schrägrollentisch 10 in überuppter manner - as in Fig. 1b shown - the second folding station 4 are supplied. There are three zig-zag folds produced, wherein the first zig-zag fold is generated in the first upper folding pocket. About another Schrägrollentisch 10, the signatures can be transported from the second folding station to a third folding station 5, where a Quermittenfalz is generated as Abschlussfalz. In Fig. 3b an alternative construction of the folding machine 1 for the production of the same product is shown. Instead of the second Schrollgrollentischs 10 and the subsequent Taschenfalzwerk here a sword folder 5 is used. In Fig. 3c is another alternative construction of the folding machine 1 is shown. The second folding station 4 is designed as Parallelschwertfalzwerk. The signatures are supplied to the Parallelschwertfalzwerk from Schrägrollentisch 10 in an overlapped manner. In order to be able to execute a plurality of parallel folds in this station, further parallel sword folds or pocket folders can follow according to the illustrated parallel sword fold.

Depending on the paper format and the machine configuration as well as on different overlaps, the application of the invention makes it possible to produce a very wide variety of signatures:
  • Thus, a 32-ply through a Mittenfalz, followed by three zig-zag folds, followed by a Mittenfalz with a maximum notch 1/4 or a 16-Seiter by a Mittenfalz, two subsequent zig-zag folds and a Wickelfalz at one Overlapping of a maximum of 1/4, a 12-Seiter by a first Mittenfalz, followed by two Wickelfalze with a maximum notch 1/3 or a 24-Seiter by a first Mittenfalz, followed by two zigzag folds, followed by a Mittenfalz at one Overproduction of a maximum of 1/3 are produced. The information on overrun refers to the second folding station.
  • This list is not to be understood as exhaustive, but rather is intended to illustrate the many possibilities of using the invention. An overlap of 1/4 is in the 1b shows shown in Fig. 2a the overlap is 1/3.
