Abstract

An apparatus for transferring a fluid product between a fluid transport vessel and a storage vessel includes a tubular arrangement for conveying the fluid between the two vessels. The tubular arrangement includes a flexible transfer pipe hanging freely between ends in its transferring position and connected to a manifold of the transport vessel. Claims (10)

  1. A system for transferring a fluid product, notably liquefied natural gas, between a fluid transport ship and a storage station such as a storage ship, of the type comprising a tubular layout for conveying the fluid between the transport ship and the storage station, which is provided with a flexible transfer conduit, one end of which is connected to the piping of the storage station and the other one of which is capable of being connected to a manifold device of the transport ship, the storage station including a device for storing the conduit in the idle condition and for freeing a length of the conduit required for the connection to the manifold device of the transport ship during a fluid transfer, the conduit then being freely suspended between the storage device and the manifold device and the transport ship being maintained in proximity to the storage station by a mooring means, such as a hawser, characterized in that the storage device (6) is provided with a rotating joint with a vertical axis on the storage station (2) and the manifold device also includes a rotating joint with a vertical axis, in order to avoid torsional stresses in the transfer conduit.
  2. The system according to claim 1, characterized in that the storage device is a storage wheel (6) provided on the storage station and on which the flexible transport conduit is able to be wound and in that this wheel is rotary around a horizontal axis and around a vertical axis forming the aforementioned rotating joint with the vertical axis.
  3. The system according to claim 1, characterized in that the transfer conduit (5) is a succession of elements jointed to each other.
  4. The system according to any of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the flexible transfer conduit (5) is suspended as a catenary.
  5. The system according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the aforementioned manifold device (9) comprises an advantageously arched portion (25) bearing at its free end a manifold flange (30) adapted so as to allow connection of the connecting endpiece (13) of a transfer conduit (5) and the other end of which is connected through an aforementioned rotating joint (26) with a vertical axis to the fixed tubing (28) of the transport ship.
  6. The system according to claim 5, characterized in that the connecting endpiece (13) of the flexible conduit (5) bears a pin (17) and the manifold device (9) bears a trumpet (32) for receiving the pin (17) upon connecting the flexible transfer conduit (5) to the manifold device (9) and a winch (34) on which may be wound a cable (35) which, when it is attached to the pin, ensures the connection by guiding the engagement of the pin (17) into the trumpet (32).
  7. The system according to claim 5, characterized in that the arched portion (25) of the manifold device (9) bears a pin (17') and the connecting endpiece (13) of the flexible conduit (5) bears a trumpet (32') for receiving the pin (17') upon connecting the endpiece (13) to the manifold device (9), and a winch on which may be wound a cable (35) which is attached to the pin upon establishing a connection and ensures guided engagement of the pin (17') into the trumpet (32').
  8. The system according to any of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the manifold device (9) is mounted on a supporting structure (10) bearing a handling bridge device (22, 23) of the manifold device (9), in which a passage (37) is provided for the free end of the manifold device or for the connecting endpiece (13) of the flexible conduit (5) upon connecting the endpiece to the manifold device.
  9. The system according to any of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the flexible transfer conduit (5) may be wound onto a storage wheel (6) provided on the storage station (2) and in that this wheel is rotary around a horizontal axis and is capable of pivoting around a vertical axis forming an aforementioned rotating joint (8) with a vertical axis.
  10. The system according to any of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that it includes two flexible transfer conduits (5), each being able to be wound onto a storage wheel (6) and connected to a manifold device (9), the wheels (6) and the manifold devices (9) being positioned symmetrically relatively to the corresponding axis of the ship.
