- the transporting device comprises a substantially U-shaped base frame 110 and two vertically extending uprights 111.
- the uprights each comprises an inner upright 112, and each inner upright comprises lifting means, such as the ones shown in Fig. 9, for telescopically extending or shortening the uprights in order to lift or lower the assisting member.
- the assisting member comprises a saddle-like seat 113, a back support 114, buttock supports 115, and armrests 116.
- the buttock supports 115 are pivotally mounted, so that they are pivotable between a horizontal supporting position and a vertical non-supporting position.
- the base frame further comprises wheels 117 for rolling the device.
- the armrests 116 are pivotally mounted on a hinge which is connected to the top of each inner upright 112.
- Fig. 9 shows a lifting mechanism which is suitable for being integrated in the device shown in Figs. 8a-b.

- the shaft is provided between the two uprights 123, so that the wires 120, 121 are being wound around the shaft 122, when the shaft is rotated around its axis of rotation.
- the first wire 120 When rotating the shaft 122 in the direction 124, the first wire 120 is wounded around the shaft 122 and thereby causes lifting of the inner uprights 125. Simultaneously, the second wire 121 is wound off the shaft 122. When rotating the shaft 122 in the opposite direction, the second wire 121 is wound around the shaft 122, thereby causing lowering of the two inner uprights 125 while the first wire 120 is wound off the shaft 122.
- the first wire 120 extends from a first fastening point 126 in the upper part of a left one of the uprights 123 and downwards along the inner surface of the left upright 123 to a pulley wheel 127 in the lower end of the left inner upright 125, the left inner upright 125 being received in the left upright 123.
- the first wire 120 further extends upwards along the opposite inner surface of the left upright 123 to a further pulley wheel 128 and then sideways from the left upright 123 around the shaft 122 to a pulley wheel 129 in the upper part of a right upright 123.
- first wire 120 extends downwards along the inner surface of the right upright 123 to a pulley wheel 130 at the lower end of the right inner upright 125 integrated in the right upright 125. Further, the first wire 120 extends upwards along the opposite inner surface of the right upright 125 to a second fastening point 131 in the upper part of the right upright 125.

- Fig. 10a shows the mechanism for moving a calves supporting mattress part 143 in relation to thigh supporting mattress part 142 and stowing the calves supporting part 143 in a position under the thigh supporting part 142.
- the two mattress parts 142 and 143 are aligned.
- Two linear actuators are provided for movement of the calves supporting part 143: a first actuator 151 with a first displaceable member 151a, and a second actuator 152 with a second displaceable member 152a.
- Those actuators may, e.g., be pneumatic, hydraulic or electrical actuators.
- the first displaceable member 151a is connected to a pivot 157 interconnecting a first bars 153 and a second bar 154.
- the first bar 153 is connected to the calves supporting part 143 and to a third bar 155 at a further pivot 156.

- the five mattress parts each has an associate frame supporting part (not shown) which is mounted to a base frame 146.
- the five mattress parts 140-144 are pivotally interconnected along one of their respective edges by hinges 145, so that they may define a horizontal common surface for a lying person as well as a supporting surface for a sitting person.
- Fig. 10c shows the bed wherein the mattress parts and their associated frame parts are mutually pivoted, so that they define a supporting surface for a sitting person.
- Fig. 10d illustrates a further the displacement of the calves supporting part 143 between the supporting position and the non-supporting position below the other frame parts, shown in Fig. 10a.
- the moving means for displacing the calves supporting part may comprise electrical driven motors or gas cylinders or manually driven means.
- Fig. 10e-h show illustrations of different configurations of the bed shown in Fig. 10b, including a tilting mechanism 147, which is adapted to tilt the bed from horizontal to vertical, as illustrated by Figs. 10e-g, and to lift or lower the bed in relation to the floor, as illustrated by Fig. 10h.
- a mechanism as shown in Fig. 10a or similar mechanisms may be used for moving the various mattress parts in relation to each other.
- Fig. 11 shows a further device, wherein an assisting member is mounted to the upright, the assisting member comprising three supporting plates 100 for supporting a lying person, and driving belts 101 for loading or unloading the person.
- the three supporting plates 100 are pivotally interconnected to each other along one their respective edges, so as to provide the possibility of converting the lying surface defined by the three supporting plates 100 into a seat.
- Each of the driving belts may be driven in sideways direction in relation to a bed on which a person is lying.
- Fig. 12 shows an assisting member comprising two platforms 22,23 which are mounted to the upright 21.
- the first platform 22 is horizontally mounted to the upright 21 and is lifted or lowered by the lifting means (not shown) which are provided in the upright.
- the second platform 23 is supported at two supporting lines 24,25, a first supporting line 24 extending along the first platform and the second supporting line 25 extending along on a floor at the elevated level.
- the first supporting line 24 is established by a pivot, so as to provide a pivotal movement between the first and second platform 22 and 23, respectively, and the second supporting line 25 is established by the edge of the floor at the elevated level.
- the second platform 23 pivots around the first supporting line 24 and slides on the floor at the elevated level.
- the first platform 22 further comprises banisters 26.
- Fig. 13 shows a further embodiment of the device, wherein two assisting members are mounted to the upright, the assisting members comprising handgrips 60 and a footrest 61.
