Description

The present invention relates to a device according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

The most important reason for forming such a shingled stream is to be seen in the fact that, particularly with thinner printed products, the speed of the conveying device connected to the printing press and leading away from the printed products can be reduced to about half with the same throughput per unit of time.

If stacks or packets are then to be formed from such a shingled stream, the double occupancy of each “place” in the shingled stream means that a stack or formed bundle always contains only an even number of printed products.

A single surplus printed product in a stack, which should contain an odd number of printed products per se, would be tolerable. However, if you consider an entire edition of printed products (generally well over 100,000), then such excess products add up to a considerable amount per stack or package Amount.

This is where the invention comes in, the task of which is to design a device of the type mentioned at the beginning in such a way that even with a "double-occupied" stream of shingles it is possible to produce stacks with an odd number of printed products.

This object is achieved by the proposed device in that it has the features described in the characterizing part of patent claim 1.

Features of preferred embodiments are described in the dependent claims.

Fig. 1
eine schematische Draufsicht auf eine Stapeleinrichtung; und
Fig. 2
The invention is described below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing. It shows:
Fig. 1
a schematic plan view of a stacking device; and
Fig. 2
on a larger scale a simplified view of the device of FIG. 1, approximately from the direction of arrow II of FIG. 1st

In the device 10 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a ribbon conveyor 11 can be seen which, in the direction of the arrow 12, brings printed products 13 in a shingled formation in which a corner of the printed products 13 runs ahead. Another ribbon conveyor 14 connects to the ribbon conveyor 11, both has lower ribbons 15 (FIG. 2) and upper ribbons 16, between which the printed products 13 are clamped in congruent pairs and are fed to a stacking shaft 17 which can be loaded from above.

The stacking shaft 17 is laterally delimited by a stop plate 18 and by stop rails 19, both of which are horizontally adjustable and lockable, in order to adapt the clear mass of the stacking shaft 17 to the format of the printed products.

In the present device, the printed products 13 supplied in pairs to the stacking chute, as can be seen in FIG. 2, either fall onto a stacking table (not shown) forming the bottom of the stacking chute, or — for example in the time when a stack has to be removed from the stacking table is - on a carrying fork 20 (Fig. 1), the tines of which are formed by piston rods 21 passing through the stop rails 19 from piston-cylinder units 22, which in turn are fastened to a common carrier 23 which can be moved up and down along the stop rails 19. A holding device 24 is provided adjacent to the outlet of the ribbon conveyor 14. The holding device 24 has a pneumatic cylinder 25, the tubular piston rod 26 of which is led out of the cylinder 25 at both ends. At the lower end, the piston rod 26 carries a bellows-shaped suction cup 27, to which negative pressure is supplied through the piston rod 26 by a suction pump 28 mounted at the upper end of the piston rod 26. The suction pump 28 is operated with compressed air. The upper end of the cylinder 25 is on a bracket 29 is attached, which in turn is pivoted about a pin 30 in the vertical plane on a frame part 31 of the device. A boom 32 extends from the frame part 31, on which one end of a tension spring 33 is suspended. The other end of the tension spring 33 is suspended from a tab 34 fastened to the upper end of the piston rod 26. The direction of the tension spring 33 in the position of the holding device 24 shown in solid lines in FIG. 2 is indicated by the dash-dotted line 35. It can be seen that in this position the direction of the tension spring 33 extends above the pin 30, so that this spring 33 tends to hold the holding device 24 in the position shown in solid lines. However, as soon as the piston rod 26 is extended downward, the tension spring 33 acts in the opposite sense. A buffer 36 is also attached to the frame part 31, which prevents a hard impact of the bracket 29 on the frame part 31 when the cylinder 25 returns from the pivoted to the non-pivoted position.

An electromagnetic five / two-way valve 37 is also mounted on the arm 32 and can be actuated via an electrical line 38. A supply line 39 connected to a compressed air source (not shown) leads to this valve 37.

In the unactuated position, the valve 37 does not pass on the compressed air present in the supply line 39. In one position, the valve 37 connects the feed line 39 to the lines 40 and 41, with the result that on the one hand the piston rod 26 extends downward with the suction cup 27 and on the other hand the Suction pump 28 is activated. As a result, the suction cup 27 sucks on the upper printed product 13 of the pair leaving the ribbon conveyor 14. However, the ribbon conveyor 14 is still effective and the upper printed product 13 gripped by the suction cup 27 is pushed further and thus brings - together with the tension spring 33 - the cylinder 25 into the position shown in dash-dotted lines in FIG. 2, whereby the upper printed product 13 from the one below it is lifted off. At this moment, a separating finger 42 (only indicated in FIG. 2) is pushed forward, which maintains the separation of the two printed products 13 until the lower of these printed products has fallen onto the already existing stack S and the tines of the carrying fork 20 have been extended and are ready to receive the one 13 previously found in a pair of printed matter.

In the other position of the valve 37, a line 54 leading around the lower end of the cylinder 25 is supplied with compressed air, with the result that the suction pump 28 is switched off, the suction cup 27 releases the upper printed product, the piston rod 26 is drawn in and the cylinder 25 is returned to the starting position.

A control device 45 is also shown very schematically in FIG. 1. This has a periodically interrupted by the sawtooth-shaped lateral edge of the shingled stream passing through the end of the ribbon conveyor 11 Light barrier 46, which is connected via a line 47 to a presettable and resettable counter 48. This counter 48 is preset or reset via a line 49 by a programmable control unit 50 and supplies the counter value reached to it via a further line 51. The control unit 50 is connected via a line 52 to an input unit 53 which can be used to enter how many stacks or packets and how many printed products are to be formed. The control unit 50 then controls the valve 37 via the feed line 38 already mentioned, and the cylinder 43 and the cylinders 22 via a further line 54 and further valves, not shown.

With the device described, any stack with an even or an odd number of printed products can be formed from a shingled stream with "double occupancy". It should be noted that the proposed device is not tied to shingled streams in which a corner of the printed products precedes, but can also be used with conventional shingled streams in which a side edge of the printed products is leading.

While in the described exemplary embodiment the holding device 24 essentially consists of the suction cup 27 which can be pivoted with the pneumatic cylinder 25, it is conceivable to provide an endless, rotating and controllably activatable suction belt instead of the suction cup 27 with a corresponding course. In the case of thicker printed products, a purely mechanical holding device can also be provided, for example in the manner of a separating finger in the form of a sword. It is only important that the upper printed product of a pair is temporarily prevented from falling into the stacking shaft 17 together, ie simultaneously with the lower printed product.

Claims (9)

  1. Apparatus for the stacking of printing products (13), arriving in an imbricated formation, in which the printing products lie in pairs congruently one on top of the other, having a stack compartment (17) which can be charged from above and into which the end of a conveyor track (11, 14), provided with a counting device (46, 47, 48) opens out, characterised in that a retaining device (24), controlled by the counting device (46, 47, 48) is provided in the region of the end of the conveyor track (11, 14), which retaining device upon activation temporarily lifts the upper of a pair of printing products (13) off the lower printing product.
  2. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterised in that the retaining device (24) has at least one suction cup (27), which upon activation can be lowered from above onto one of the pairs of printing products (13) and subsequently raised.
  3. Apparatus according to Claim 2, characterised in that the suction cup (27) is fitted at the end of a piston rod (26) of a cylinder-piston unit (25).
  4. Apparatus according to Claim 3, characterised in that the cylinder-piston unit (25) is suspended such that it can swivel in a vertical plane parallel to the conveying direction of the conveyor track (11, 14).
  5. Apparatus according to Claim 3, characterised in that the piston rod (26) is tubular and extends on both sides out of the cylinder of the cylinder-piston unit (25), and bears at the end away from the suction cup (27) a low-pressure source (28), supplying low pressure through the piston rod (26) to the suction cup (27).
  6. Apparatus according to Claims 4 and 5, characterised in that the one end of a tension spring (33) acts on the end of the piston rod (26) away from the suction cup (27), the tensile force of which tension spring draws the cylinder-piston unit (25) into the unswivelled position when the suction cup (27) is raised and draws it into the swivelled position when the suction cup (27) is lowered.
  7. Apparatus according to Claim 5, characterised in that the low-pressure source has a suction pump (28) operated by compressed air.
  8. Apparatus according to Claim 7, characterised in that an electromagnetic five/two-way valve (37) is provided, to supply compressed air both to the cylinder-piston unit (25) and to the suction pump (28).
  9. Apparatus according to one of Claims 1 to 8, characterised in that at least one separating finger (42), which can be moved into the stack compartment (17) simultaneously with the activation of the retaining device (24), is provided in order to ensure the separation of the raised printing product (13) from the one lying underneath.
