Description

The invention relates to a cylinder head of a type according to the features specified in the preamble of the claim.

In a known cylinder head of this type according to DE-B-1 127144, all-three valves are arranged in a triangle and parallel to one another, as a result of which a largely flat boundary wall of the combustion chamber in the cylinder head is unavoidable and all valve disks, even in the open position, due to the cylinder wall being closely tangent to the valve - Narrow opening cross-sections in this area and thereby hinder the gas exchange. In this unfavorable sense, the valve disk diameter of the exhaust valve, which is relatively small in relation to the total opening cross section of the two intake valves, also acts. Finally, even in the case of a spark-ignited design of this known machine, the combustion process is adversely affected by the wide ring-shaped pinch gap, which also exists in the area of the exhaust valve which is very hot during operation, in which auto-ignition is preferably caused thereby.

Known cylinder heads of a similar design with V-position of the valves according to DE-C-708 283, DE-C-755 495 and DE-Z-Motorrad, issue 24 / 1,980, pages 28 and 30 have an unfavorable arrangement of the valves and the spark plug in relation to the combustion chamber design, whereby on the one hand the surface of the combustion chamber is insufficiently used for a coordination between valve size and pinch gap size and on the other hand there is a decentralized charge ignition with an adverse influence on the combustion process.

A known four-valve cylinder head, each with two intake and exhaust valves in a V-position of a similar type according to DE-A-2 919 213, has a significantly higher construction cost for the additional second exhaust valve and its control. In addition, either the valve size or V-angle size is limited by reciprocal stroke hindrance of an intake and an exhaust valve, and thus also prevents the gas exchange. The spark gap of the spark plug is arranged approximately in the middle between all four valves, which would hinder the exhaust valve size in the case of three valves.

The invention avoids the disadvantages described by using the features according to the characterizing part of the patent claim in the case of a type-appropriate cylinder head. The valve and spark plug arrangement provided with only one exhaust valve enables large valve opening cross sections, a compact combustion chamber design including almost central charge ignition and a favorable influence on the combustion process through a design and arrangement of a coordinated pinch gap which is favored by the intake valve arrangement.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown. Show it :
  • Figure 1 shows a cylinder head for four-stroke internal combustion engines in section and
  • FIG. 2 shows the interior view of the combustion chamber in the cylinder head according to line 11-11 in FIG. 1.

A cylinder head 1 for spark-ignited four-stroke internal combustion engines contains three valves 2 and 3 in a V position with respect to one another. Two inlet valves 2 are parallel to each other corresponding to a V-leg, which is determined by the plane of the two inlet valves 2. The inlet valves 2 have an angle of approximately 37 ° to the cylinder axis 4. The V-leg determined by an exhaust valve 3, on the other hand, only has an angle of approximately 15 ° to the cylinder axis 4. A camshaft 5 is arranged in an angle bisecting position within the approx. 52 ° -V position of the intake and exhaust valves 2 and 3. For the drive connection between the camshaft 5 and the intake and exhaust valves 2 and 3, a tilting jack 6 is rotatably arranged on bearing axles 7.

The described V-position of the intake and exhaust valves 2 and 3 results in connection with the arrangement of the two intake valves 2 or their valve plate 2 'at a relatively large free distance and a spark plug 8 or its spark gap in this distance one for the size the valve opening cross sections and the combustion process advantageous design of the combustion chamber 9. For this purpose, the valve plates 2 'and 3' are almost tangentially close to the contour 10 'of the associated cylinder 10 and the valve plate 2' at a relatively close distance from the valve plate 3 '. The diameter of the valve plate 3 'of the exhaust valve 3 largely corresponds to the radius of the cylinder 10. The valve plate 2' of the intake valve 2 overlap that axis 10 "of the contour 10 'of the cylinder 10 which is parallel to the plane of the intake valve 2. This arrangement of the Inlet and outlet valves 2 and 3 or their valve plates 2 'and 3' and the spark gap of the spark plug 8 between the valve plates 2 'results in a favorable coordination of the valve opening cross sections of the inlet and outlet valves 2 and 3 with one another and an almost central position of the spark gap Spark plug 8 in the combustion chamber 9 with favorable effects on the machine function in terms of performance and fuel consumption.

In the area of the combustion chamber 9 outside the valve plate 2 'of the inlet valves 2, a relatively large squeeze area 11 is formed which, in cooperation with a flat bottom portion 12' of a piston 12, forms a squeeze gap with a favorable influence on the combustion process.

The spark plug 8 is arranged with its longitudinal axis at a larger angle to the cylinder axis 4 than the shafts of the intake valves 2. This means that the Zünd needs more space candle 8 not between the space requirement of the valve springs 13 of the inlet valves 2 to advantage. In addition, the spark plug 8 and its electrical connection have a particularly favorable accessibility for the maintenance of the relatively cold inlet outside of the cylinder head 1 during operation.
