Abstract

En tjener (1) leverer ny programvare til hver klient (21 - 2N) via et nett. Etter avlevering av ny programvare (101) sender tjeneren en beskjed (102) om å veksle fra den gamle programvare til den nye programvare til hver av klientene via nettet. Hver klient laster den nye programvare som er blitt mottatt, i en hukommelse. Ved mottagning av beskjeden fra tjeneren veksler hver klient (103) fra den gamle programvare til den nye programvare. Omvekslingsoperasjonen i klienten utføres i løpet av kort tid ved at adressen i hukommelsen omskrives uten å avbryte tjenesten. I tilfellet av kansellering av oppdateringen utføres en reverserende operasjon (105, 106) fra den nye programvare til den gamle programvare på en analog måte med den omvekslende operasjon.
