After the STORM.....

On our way to feed the cattle this morning...

There were 3 road blocks...

3 big maple trees came down

after the big snow storm...

We went home to get the power saw

so the Cowboy could clear a path...

We had hungry cows waiting for hay.

Feeding Cattle in the Western Oregon Snow....

I haven't made it out to the Thread Shed

to get any stitching done...

We have been making our way through

all of this snow to get the cattle fed:

Frosty mornings on an open tractor.....brrrr

The Cowboy loads up the 1200 lb. hay bale

and I drive the pickup...

I drive while the Cowboy flakes the hay

off the back of the flat bed...

We have cattle at 5 different locations

so we will repeat this feeding process...

The cattle will move their way up this line of hay

munching all the way...

Just across the river you can see

our red goat barn...

Next to the barn is my little, yellow Thread Shed.

I hope to be stitching in there soon.

From Western Oregon we wish you a

Happy New Year 2022

At 200 feet above sea level,

we don't get much snow...

the cow herd doesn't know what to think

about all of this white stuff ?

These are mama cows ...

They will begin calving in February...

Cattle in the Snow and Jelly Roll Rug...

We woke up to SNOW this morning...

The calves enjoyed romping around

in the SNOW

After we checked for new calves

and bedded the barns,

I headed for the Quilt Palace

to join up with the Harlan Valley Quilters...

This is my new Monday project @ the Palace:

Jelly Roll Rug

Jelly Roll strips....

I stitched all of the strips together,

end-to-end,

assembly line style

The batting is stitched inside the strips...

I am 4 hours into this project

and it is moving along quickly.

Looking forward to working on it again

next Monday.

We woke up to a world of white

here in Western Oregon

View out the living room window...

We will be heading out to do

chores in the snow...

across the river are the calving barns.

The calves are due in 2 weeks.

In our yard...

Thread Shed and Hen House

We are now across the river,

heading over the hills to the cow barns

to feed the mama cows...

You can see our red barn across the river

@ our place...

These mama cows will be having

their babies very soon.

After all of the cattle are fed,

I head up to the Quilt Palace

to meet up with the Harlan Valley Quilters

This hand pieced hexagon quilt is basted

and ready to machine quilt...

Tim Holtz Eclectic Fabric Line

Back side of the hexagon quilt

My Floral Monet quilt is also basted and

ready to go under the needle.

I spent the afternoon varnishing

these two cupboards.

Lots of drawers for storing quilting supplies...

I am jazzed!

It was a good SNOW DAY

here in Western Oregon
