This paper will look at the concepts of two intelligence theories - the Bell Curve and the Multiple Intelligence (MI) theories. The paper will explore the effectiveness of planning classroom and clinical instructions. It will also examine the development of the nursing curriculum and the preparation for the National examination (NCLEX) for nursing students.

This paper will discuss the definition of reflection; the importance of developing the culture of reflection in the classroom and clinical education for nurses; the different ways that the educator can self-reflect and creatively incorporate reflection into the traditional nursing curriculum. It will also discuss some of the benefits and shortcomings of some of the strategies that the educator can use.

Principles of effective practice are important in developing an appropriate philosophy of education. There are many theories of principles of effective practice. According to the literature, Knowles and Brookfield have made a lot of contribution in the adult education (Galbraith, 2004). In this paper, Knowles and Brookfield’s theories will be compared and contrasted. With the support of literature, the components of the theories about effective practice will be explored.

There are many types of program planning models for adult education. This scholarly paper will discuss the similarities and differences of underlying assumptions, processes and applicability between two program planning models - Knowles’ Andragogy and Caffarella’s Interactive Model.

Knowles developed the two models of learning – Andragogy and Pedagogy. According to Knowles, the pedagogy model is a learning environment where the student is dependent on the teacher for all learning. Many studies criticize Knowles work. The general criticisms include uncertainty if Knowles work is a theory or just collection of assumptions.

I conducted an interview on the perspectives of Community College faculty about Professional Development Programs for Educational and Instructional Reform. In general, after conducting and reviewing the interview, I discovered that I was satisfied with the way I prepared and conducted the process. For a successful interview, the process and the questions are essential. This paper will depict why I believe that my interviewing experience was successful even with a minor setback.

In my Fair Lady, a movie, a linguistic professor taught proper speech and manners to a Cockney street flower girl, Eliza Doolittle. The movie was set in the 1910s London. In the movie, there are examples of different orientations to learning such as behaviorism, humanism, cognitivism, social cognitivism and constructivism. This paper will analyze Eliza’s learning, and what caused her to learn through the perspectives of Mezirow’s transformative learning theory and Knowles’ andragogy.

With the unbridled use of the Internet and the social media, Westerners would think that sexual knowledge is common and the norm among people in every society. However, to discuss sex in some African cultures can be likened with stealing from the Pope or dancing naked in the church. In African societies, Sex is between a married couple and sacred. Sex is not discussed casually. Africans believe that decent families and respectable people will not discuss sex or sexual acts. Discussion about sex is interpreted as a sign of poor upbringing, promiscuity and irresponsibility. During childhood, older children and peers serve as experts about childhood sexual curiosity and questions. Nowadays, with the advent of social media and the availability of technology, sexual information is readily learned.

To live between two cultures for African immigrants in the United States is not only challenging and intricate, but sometimes very amusing. When Africans immigrate to this country, they have to live in the American culture and the African-American culture. Some immigrants are unprepared to deal with the cultural shock.

As a respected and recognized global leader with the backing of a stable democratic government, monetary and scientific resources, the United States of America can have a great impact on reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS in third world countries. If the United States was concerned enough to immerse themselves in the political and economic plight of the Middle East as a concern for the safety of American citizens, then it is imperative that the fight against HIV/AIDS should be equally essential for the same goal of American public safety. Unlike 911 that took the lives of so many Americans in a day, HIV/AIDS is transmitted to many Americans and will continue to kill many people every day. Some of the ways that the HIV/AIDS in Caribbean can affect the HIV/AIDS rate in this country are through immigration, tourism, business contact, and finance.

Pregnancy and birth are celebrated in every part of the world. In African cultures, because of many superstitious beliefs, many families will perform different rituals to safeguard the pregnancy. Pregnancy is acknowledged but not celebrated. It is believed that witches and evil spirits are capable of stealing the pregnancy or interfering with it. So the pregnant woman is not permitted to associate with the known witches in the neighborhood or allow strangers to rub her stomach. Furthermore, a woman is not allowed to attend some social functions, or perform some social tasks. For instance, a woman may not be permitted to go to some funerals or involve with any morbid social issues.

Discrimination exists in many cultures. There are immense differences in the legal protection of women in United States versus the plight of African women. Traditionally, African women have continued subjected to inhumane and obsolete treatments. Some African legal system is modeled after the Western legal system. However, African traditional culture continues to prevail over the constitutional laws of the society. The legal rules of property and trusts, family and child laws, tort, contract and criminal laws are acknowledged or enforced. Courts have interpreted, and in some situations imposed the rules, but in the end, the tradition and ancient culture have relentlessly succeeded.

Ebola virus (EBV) is one of several viruses known as viral hemorrhagic fevers. The virus attacks all body organs. EBV enters the body through the eyes, ears, nose, mucous membranes and skin abrasions and opening. The virus can be transmitted via body fluids such as sweat, saliva, semen, breast milk and vaginal fluids.1

Many healthcare providers and the public are paying very special attention to the outbreak of the Ebola Virus in West Africa and the subsequent infection of the two critical care nurses at Texas. Many healthcare professionals expressed their confusion about the virus and the seeming stigmatization of nurses. Currently with the outbreak in Texas, nurses and other healthcare providers were encountered the same dilemmas as Central Africa nurses years ago.

The World Health Organization recently had an emergency meeting to explore the recent outbreak of the Zika virus in Central America. It is imperative that obstetrical and gynecology nurses are aware of the transmission, treatment and education of the patients diagnosed with the virus.

Hopelessness. Hunger. Fear. Desperation. Sadness. Well, I can go on about the different human emotions I saw in the eyes of people when I visited my country. In a developed country like the United States and some European countries, people tend to describe poverty as not having the means to get the comforts that the society has to offer or to struggle to obtain and maintain some human needs.

Unlike developed countries, the mortality rates in African nations are appalling.  In 2013, the Nigerian government reported more than 11,000 deaths in 3 months. According to the WHO, the African and the Caribbean countries have the highest rate of maternal mortality. Per WHO, the major contributing factor of maternal deaths is a preexisting health condition exacerbated by pregnancy. For other African countries, other contributing factors are governmental and social issues. Medication, proficient obstetrical techniques, and proper handling could easily prevent the high mortality rate of African women.
