I purchased an $1100 Garmin smart watch in Dec. 2024 as a Christmas present for my spouse. When it was delivered, the shipping box was all in-tact. But when I opened the package, the watch box itself contained NO WATCH, just a band. So obviously this error occurred on the store side. However, after contacting Scheels customer support multiple times, I was told there was nothing they could do except file a dispute with my credit card because I had no proof the box was empty. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHO OPENS EVERY PACKAGE THEY RECEIVE UNDER VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SO THEY HAVE PROOF? But lesson learned. Lesson learned, I will henceforth. Effectively they stole $1100 from me. I've read other reviews of individuals receiving empty packages from them. I wouldn't buy anything of value from them online. If you do, video yourself opening the package. I will never shop at Scheel's again.

This store has the blind leading the stupid. I just got off the phone with Trevor the manager and he is good but his employees are inexperienced and ignorant of the laws they are trying to play by. Long story short I won’t be buying anything from them again.
Buyer beware.. Scheels tacts on a 2.5% Public Improvement Fee at check-out, they don't let customers know, so I took the liberty to place signs on the entrance doors and I will place more at each register.. What a RIP-OFF, they also give a BS excuse that it was imposed the the City of Johnstown and the Property Management company... Nope, those fees are for Scheel and not the customer, Can't wait for Bass Pro Shoppe to open, they will NOT charge BS fees unlike Scheels.. Also have you notice Scheels only response to Good comments, an NOT negative ones... Just look for yourself.. DONT Shop at Scheels, better yet Shittts!
The best experience in a sporting goods store EVER. I’ve worked in corporate retail for 20 years, and this is BY FAR the best looking, well-stocked, and engaging store I’ve ever been in. The assortment is amazing. The prices are reasonable. And the employees are so engaged into their jobs and putting the customers first, it’s almost infectious. I walked out in such a good mood because of how well I was treated. 874/10 would recommend.

AVOID SCHEELS - THEY ARE INCOMPETENT
Quite possibly the stupidest company with I have ever dealt.
I ordered a number of t-shirts and the quickly cancelled the order. I called to ask "why?" and the 1st person had no idea, but told me "we'll do ahead and push it through. you should get a confirmation message in an hour". At the end of the day (no confirmation), so I called to check and was told "our system automatically cancelled it because the IP address it detected was different than your shipping/billing address.
BEYOND using a VPN (standard for most people now) but relying on getting an IP address from any ISP and trying to use THAT to verify identity is the stupidest BS I have ever heard (hell, it would be stupid in the 90's, but NOW - it's brain dead).
I don't care if it's customer service, their bosses or the executive level, but any company this incompetent if ONE TO AVOID!

Empty Box
I ordered cross country skis from Scheels. A tracking number was generated and sent, but the package was delayed for a few weeks before actually shipping. When a package finally arrived, it was extremely small, maybe a foot long, and felt empty. I opened the package to find only bubble wrap inside. I called the company and reported this, they asked for pictures of the package and told me they would get back to me. A few days later I was informed that they had finished their investigation, and would not be replacing or refunding me for the skis that never arrived. This business is terrible, do not let them take your money!

BEWARE OF THE CREDIT CARD SCAM
BEWARE OF THE CREDIT CARD SCAM
When you get to the register they will tell you that if you apply for a Sheels card you will get $70 off. I did (with a credit score over 750 and it delays the answer for 2 weeks. Therefore you will have to call the store after approval and hopefully get the $70 off. This happened to everyone I saw apply

DO NOT do business with these people
DO NOT do business with these people, if you try to make a gun purchase, trade in a gun, they will pay you NOTHING for a trade in. Then I was told my gun "jammed" and the "slide would lock back" so they wouldn't trade for it. I asked to be present for the test fire, it is a practicaly a brand new Canik, and I don't believe for a SECOND that it "jammed",they refused. I went directly to the range loaded up three magazines 17 rounds each. No jams, slide locked back every time. I've never seen a gigantic company try to weasel out of a deal like that. GO TO GRAB A GUN!! They are more reasonable and they play ZERO GAMES. I will be giving grab a gun the 1000 dollars.

Used devices are sent instead of new ones
Placed 11 orders in this store as they offer a good price for the product. But unfortunately for 4 orders used equipment was delivered.
This was noticeable by the lack of a film on the screen, saved waypoints in memory and scratches on the surface of the device.
Since I supplied the devices to travelers outside the US, it was very time consuming and expensive to return the devices to the store.
I ruined my reputation and got very big problems in the end.

Scheels is such an amazing company
Scheels is such an amazing company! Best customer service ever. The employees go above and beyond to help you find what you need. They even special ordered an item for me and price matched! I’ve had several experiences with them but my favorite is when I was first getting into running and wanted to buy running shoes. An employee named Sunny at the Eau Claire Scheels helped me out. She was so patient with the new runner and brought me several different shoes for this picky girl to try on. She even figured out what kind of strike I had when I ran and found the perfect shoe for me. She was so knowledgeable and had the best personality. I learned a lot of new things about running that day. If you ever have any questions about anything you’re buying from Scheels, know that you are working with experts. Best customer service and so knowledgeable!
